Offers Management System

The situation

The French arm of a global payments technology company had, for many years, been running a successful programme of retailer offers for users of its various payment cards. The offers were created, published and managed using the company’s web content management system (CMS), Tridion.

By setting up an account, a payment card holder could take advantage of discounts offered by airlines, cinemas, travel companies, insurance companies etc. They could redeem offers using an onscreen code. Alternatively discount codes could be downloaded by the user, emailed to a user or a user could be redirected to the retailer’s own site. In late 2018 over 700,000 payment card holders had set up accounts to allow them to take advantage of these offers.

Also in 2018, the American parent company of the French business was in the process of migrating all it’s European websites on to the same content management platform as it’s own web content - Adobe Experience Manager. This offers management system of the French business could not be migrated on to the new platform without bespoke customisation. This customisation would not be built by the parent company within the few months available before the migration was to take place.

A robust and secure solution had to be found quickly to ensure that these offers could continue to be created and managed and that the current user accounts could remain live when the current CMS became unavailable.

Our solution

Within three months, using the latest technologies including MongoDB and Angular, we built a system to enable the French business to continue to manage their online retailer offers.

The system allows the business employees to create, edit, preview and publish the retailer offers. Offer and publishing dates can be set, content input and images uploaded. Batches of discount codes can be uploaded, ready to be redeemed by customers. Each offer can be redeemed in one or numerous ways.

We ensured that there was no interruption to business for the French company and its retailer partners. We migrated the 700,000 + user accounts into the new system so users could continue to take advantage of the retailer offers and manage their accounts.

Another area of the French site that could not be migrated related to a contact form and information area that redirected users dependent upon the type of payment card they held, the issuing bank and the subject of their query. We built this functionality into our solution to ensure a seamless continuation of this service for users with, and without, accounts. This system was built upon our Core Business Platform.
