Promotion Engine and Administration System

A Takka developer built the promotion engine used to run online promotional competitions for the European arm of a global payments technology company for over a decade. The application ran hundreds of on-line competitions throughout Europe, often with dozens running simultaneously. This robust engine processed in excess of 27 million entries and tens of thousands of winners.

The engine supported the development of numerous competition formats and could process entries made via methods that included web forms, social media channels, file uploads and OCR. The application received and stored the entry data. The engine ensured that even the most popular competitions, receiving hundreds of thousands of entries, were lightening fast for the user.

The engine held the entry data securely and processes were compliant with data protection regulations. The selection and notification of winners was carried out within the system and winners could be selected in numerous ways, including random selection and instant wins.

The engine administration system was used by developers, marketers and business users in each European country market to develop and manage the competitions. Different levels of access could be set and allocated to a user so they could view and use specific parts of the system. The business users could see at a glance the number of entries being received, when they were received, by what method, and in which language (for countries with more than one main language). More detailed reports could easily and quickly be generated and exported.
