The situation

We have been building bespoke business systems for our clients for many years. The systems have varied in size and have been built to support very different business processes including managing events, web content, offers and promotions.

Despite their differences in functionality, the systems all had to be fast, secure, stable and easy to use. The systems had to be able to store data securely and be easily developed upon.

We realised that what we needed was to build our own robust platform upon which to develop the best possible systems for our clients.

Our solution

We invested our time, over several years, creating our Core Business Platform. We now build upon this to create exceptional business systems for our customers.

Now in it's third iteration, this product is the perfect platform upon which to build systems to manage customers, clients, contractors, products and events, to name but a few.

Modular

Our platform is modular, allowing for new modules to be added and integrated with ease.

This allows us to build systems for customers and easily add to them in the future as customers' businesses expand or they choose to automate/improve more processes.

Consistent user experience

Navigating through a system built upon our platform is made easy because it will have a consistent appearance throughout. For example, all the listings screens in a system will look similar and operate in the same way.

A listing screen displays data/records. From a listing screen a user can access various functions that they can perform on each record including view, edit and delete. Options are accessed via the 'Actions' drop down menu found on each row of data.

The user can choose which columns of data to display in a listing. The visible columns can be sorted and dragged and dropped into new positions.

Searching and filtering is extremely fast, even with hundreds of thousands of records with the relevant records instantly appearing as you type.

Creating new records is also straightforward as the user is guided through the screens to be completed. Each record can contain whatever information is required by the customer and can be in a variety of formats including text, dates, figures, images etc

Easy management of system access

The platform was developed to support the easy management of a business system’s users and user access. It allows for granular levels of permissions to be set - right down to button click level.

The platform's system of 'roles' and 'permissions' makes it really easy to make changes to levels of access for groups of staff if business requirements change.

User accounts can be locked, unlocked and deleted as required with a couple of clicks.

Accessibility

As a company we are striving to create products that can be used by as many people as possible. We considered accessibility from the beginning of this project and the work is ongoing. Accessibility influenced our choice of development tools and the design of the platform.

We have ensured that navigation is consistent throughout and that a user can navigate through the platform, in a logical way, using a keyboard.

The system provides options for dark and light themes out of the tin, and additional themes can easily be added to support your branding.

Interactive help

The latest feature we have added is the ability to display icons that can quickly display a detailed help description for any function. These icons can be switched off by experienced users to avoid screen clutter. This feature that can significantly reduce the system training overhead and reduce the need to refer to training guides.

The tech

Our Core Business Platform has been built using the latest technologies including Angular, MongoDB, and Google’s Material Design. Material Design brings a feeling of familiarity to users as it’s used across Google products and apps.
