Web Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to web accessibility
At Takka we have made a commitment to put accessibility at the heart of what we do. We want to create web products that can be used by as many people as possible. We have quickly learned that considering accessibility results in a better experience for all web users.

Web accessibility and our own website
We are striving to make our own site as accessible as possible and this will always be a work in progress. Here are some of the things we have done, or are in the process of doing, to achieve this.
Keyboard focus
- We have developed the keyboard focus to ensure that users who navigate mostly, or only, using a keyboard can easily identify where they are within the site as they tab through the interactive elements.
- We have ensured this focus is still clear if a user selects a different colour theme from within the accessibility settings.
- There is no content that is only available when hovered over using a mouse.
A 'Skip to Main Content' link appears at the top of each page as a keyboard user tabs on to the page. This allows users to jump to the main content of the page without having to tab through the main navigation menu each time.
Links
- The links in our site are easily identifiable as links. They are a different colour from surrounding text and are underlined.
- The text of links makes sense out of context to assist screen reader users. We do not use links such as 'Read more' or 'Click here'.
- Current links on the site do not open in a new browser tab or window. This ensures that the user's browsing history is not lost and that pressing the browser 'back' button will take the user back to where they were.
Colour
- We have worked to ensure that there is at least the recommended minimum contrast between the colour of the text on the website and the colour of the background to the text. We have a couple tweaks still to make.
- In our Accessibility settings, in our main navigation menu, users can also select a different colour contrast theme. Included are themes with lesser and much greater contrast ratios than the minimums recommended in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
- There are no instructions on the site which rely on colour alone. There are text alternatives for the colour based instructions of our contact form.
Text
- Text content is not justified (aligned to both the left and right margins).
- Users can adjust text size easily within the Accessibility settings, found in our main navigation menu.
Contact form
- Our Contact form can be operated using a keyboard only.
- Colour based instructions on the form have a text alternative.
- The error messages on the form have been developed to assist those only/mostly using a keyboard and those using screen readers.
Content that moves
We want to make sure that users are in control of their experience of using our site and this includes being able to move through content at their own speed. We had a carousel of moving images on the 'Our Work' page of our site. We ensured that users could pause the carousel and tab through it at their own speed. We then decided to remove the carousel completely.
Layout
We have tried to layout our website pages in a logical fashion. We are also working to simplify the layout of pages to assist those who use screen magnifying tools. In particular, we are reducing the number of columns per page. We have improved the layout of some pages e.g Case Studies but we have further work to do.
My Computer My Way
Also in the Accessibility settings you can find a link to My Computer My Way. This is a guide produced by AbilityNet that provides lots of useful information about how to improve your experience of using your computer and the internet.
WCAG 2.1
We support the accessibility principles upon which the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 are based and are working to meet this standard at Level AA.
Feedback
Feedback from users of our site is incredibly valuable. We'd love to hear about your experience of using our site. You can email us at angela@takka.co.uk, or use the contact form on this site.
